Hi,I just cut out the floor board on my project boat, a 1970 19 ft closed bow Winner and found it full of plastic floats...they are brick shaped about 12 in' long and 6 in' wide filled with nothing but air....Does any one know anything about these flotation devices ...Their use ? Are they Needed?

Sounds like something a previous owner put in there sometime in the last 40 years. Some sort of floation is needed to keep your boat at least semi-floating in the event that it fills with water. Most manufacturers are using pourable expanding foam. Many members here who are rebuilding their boats are using the pink or blue foam boards from Lowes/HomeDepot cut and shaped to fit.

Thanks, and welcome to iBoats! We'd love to see some pics of your boat and also update your profile to show your location. It's interesting to see where everyone is from and it can sometimes also help us when giving advice.
