2nd coat looks great. Fixed all the issues from the first it appears. Nice work.

Word of advice from one who has gone before you.....be VERY careful around your new paint work as you complete your interior. Make every effort to protect it as you keep working. I beat the snot out of mine. Especially the top sides. Maybe put more of that brown paper back in there as you'll be dragging crap in and out of the boat a lot. (Fortunately with my paint job being ruined at this point, the nicks and scrapes I put in it while working aren't really an issue :facepalm

Definitely noted. I do worry about having to get stuff in and out...especially the big floor pieces.

I was able to get the top zinc'd and primed

and...drove 10 hrs round trip to pick up this little shin dig.

What HP? That Yammie is sweet. They are so quiet. Watched a guy readying his boat last summer when I was at the shore and I didn't even know his motor was on until he starting heading down the canal!

You're gonna love that Yamaha! And quiet....I live on a channel and I swear that everyone of these Yamaha owners are floating their boats past me or using their trolling motors!!!! The boat is coming along great and I'm sure you're getting anxious to get to the end. You'll end up with something that will give you enjoyment for as long as you want it too, so congrats on a job well done.

Question about that "Playboard"; is that something you can cut with a wood blade on a bandsaw? Where did you source it?

My build partner has a friend that is rep for Vycom, and that is where we ordered it through.

It cuts like wood, so your bandsaw would work great for it with the wood blade.

The boat is coming along great and I'm sure you're getting anxious to get to the end. First coat of blue on top

One more coat tomorrow of the blue, and the boat itself is finished. I do still need to paint the splashwell (forgot to install it before painting the top blue) and consoles (same silver as inside)

It's going to be hard to install the splashwell without scratching anything, so I'm sure I'll have to do some touchup work.

Was a busy day, and am happy to say...I think I'm done with the paint work

Second Coat and tape is off. The paint dries so much faster when it's outside in the sun. Unfortunately I should've stripped all of the paint off the splashwell, but chose not to out of laziness. I was able to get the second coat on it after about 10 hrs of dry time with it outside.

Consoles and bow brace. Two coats each, and good to go.

Nice work I was just discussing paint colors for my SS and blue and silver/grey is what the admiral suggested.

Are you using a hvlp set up to spray?

That Kubota is a nice one, those things are extremely useful, we have one up north. Coincidentally we also have a 225hp 4-stroke Yamaha and I agree with the above comments. They are way quieter and no fumes at all.

I'm sure you will like that F50, it will look great on the transom. Keep it up and you should be on the water soon.

I'm using a cheapo Harbor Freight Model 47016 (Paid $9.99 Normally $24.99). My setup is a 25 gallon Devilbiss Compressor with compressor regulator set to 80 psi, cheapo plastic desiccant drier, gun regulator set to 50 psi with trigger pulled, air control fitting on the gun wide open (bottom of gun), fan set to 6-8" or a 1/3-1/2 turn from closed (side of gun), and paint volume set to 2.75-3 turns out (back of gun). (listed in the order from tank to tip of gun) None of that will matter to anyone, until they go and try to spray with it. I thinned everything 10% with Mineral Spirits, except for the Hammered which has to be thinned with Xylol (Xylene).

The Model 94572 is a little better gun though.

On the 47016 check the fitting on the bottom that the regulator attaches to. Over half of the guns at my HF had a fitting that was threaded wrong at the factory. The threads went on at an angle and don't allow the compression fitting to work, so it doesn't seal for anything.

I started to reinforce the stringers a little for extra places to rivit the floor to, and went over the rivit heads/seams with Coat It. I'll add in more bracing so it's over every other brace.

Got some more done. The floor isn't mounted permanently yet, as we have to run all the wires first. I will eventually need to paint it, as it's blinding to look at in the sun. The splashwell is mounted now as well.

Since we replaced the two boards under the bow cap with a solid piece of 3/4" plywood, we chose to use stainless screws so that the cap is actually connected to the board.

Drain tubes are installed (although only show drilled in the pics), and the motor bracket holes are drilled)

Thought this pic was funny, since we are test fitting all of it with pieces that won't be used. (beside the console)

We lengthened the bow seat piece by 12.5" to be able to fit this anchor ball down below the deck. It's always bugged me tripping over them, and having to carry a bag or bucket to put the anchor rope into. I guess we also shortened the floor as well, since it needed all the room possible to fit. (Yup, I still need to cut around the ribs too)

I'll have pics of the upper deck pieces tonight, as well as the bow deck support brace.

What is "Coat It" I havent heard of it until now?
