Hey all I have picked up two Ted Williams a 1974 4.5hp and the one in question 1971 7hp (217.59440) I brought it home Pulled on it 35 times trying to start it changed the spark plug and put new gas in it finally after 20 more pulls got it to start and it ran great I found out the previous owner disconnected the fitting for a remote fuel tank and did it all janky so it wasn’t getting fuel and had a leak so sorta getto set that straight for now (I’ll fix it soon) and it ran but no water shooting out the two little holes on the lower unit so I didn’t let it run each try just few seconds in a bin of water so I took it apart and noticed there was no oil in the lower unit and there was a screw missing in the skag so I took that apart it was nice and shiny metal it was also all milk shake creamy in it so I cleaned it sealed it back up put oil back in it and checked the impeller it looked almost brand new so I put the lower unit back together and aligned the water tube and boom fired it up and water was shooting out but it was also coming from a hole right under the power head ? Never seen that before so is that normal with this engine? or is there a bolt missing ? And can I run it like that? I’ll attach some pics thanks
