First, I have the control box all taken apart and don't know how to put it back together. Would someone help me out with this? There was a small cylindrical metal piece that fell out when I took the box apart, and that's one of the things I'm trying to figure out...But in general, I have no idea how to put the thing back together.
Secondly, none of the gauges on my boat work. I'd like to hook the tach back up. Would someone help me on what wires I need to look for and where they'd go on the tach gauge?
I have the same problem with the fuel gauge, so any help there would be greatly appreciated.
My first boat, and I'm learning as I go. Hopefully tonight I can get the motor out of it's stuck-in-reverse position manually. Then I want to put the control box back together and see if I can get it to work right.
Does anyone have any experience replacing a Mercruiser control box with a UFlex box? I was thinking of doing that, as the guy I got the boat from said this current box I have has some problems with it (i.e. wear issues), and he was going to give me a "new" old box, but I am afraid I'd run into the same problems. Not to mention it's a 3hr drive each way to the guy... so for the price of gas and my time, it might make sense just to put on a new box, and a new key switch, for that matter.
Let me know what you guys and gals think.
Thanks!
