Re: 1971 Chrysler Fin Runner Restoration

I was able to remove the fuel tank today. I think I will be able to remove the foam tomorrow.

Does anyone know why the splashwell was cut out this way? And why is it trimmed in wood?

In order for me to remove the transom must I remove the rub rail, drill out all the rivits, drill out all the rivits in the splashwell & remove the top cap?

hi ed....welcome to iboats....

looks like a fun project...

first lets get your pics straightened out.

re size to 480x680.....(or close).....then copt the IMG tag.....and place it in your reply.

then we can get a closer look at that funny transom of yours.

All the foam is finally out.

I am going to start scrapping and sanding the inside. What primer would you guys suggest I use before I paint?

I also have a transom that needs to be replaced and I don't know where to start. Do I need to take the entire top cap off?
Lots of rivets.

I will be out of town this weekend so there will be nothing to update. But I will appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

ribs foam.jpged,

rory here---check out my PM before you prime. you are missing a big step on this hull----no ribs.---then seal with steel flex or glu-vit---then prime.

all looks great

enclosed a picture of ribs w/ foam added from someone's project
