Hi Just joined the forums glad to be here. I have been in the boating scene off and on for awhile now but just got started in my first project boat. My first question is i have been searching for the hull id tag on my 71 Crestliner muskie 15, and for the life of me can not locate it maybe I am totally missing it but it is defiantly not in a obvious location or is gone. Dose someone have a pic of the location or can tell me where it is located. Thanks for the help. MJP

A HIN wasn't required until 72 and then there wasn't a specified location. Upper right or left on the outside of the transom were the common locations. Now the upper right is the required location. When you license the boat they will assign a new HIN for you, here in WA they also require that you affix the new HIN to your boat as well.

Thanks for the help I was going to register it in my name and they needed a HIN number and I told them it was old enough to not need a title so I was guessing it did not have a number they said I need a number so I guess I'll have to convince them there is not a number

Yeah when I registered my 1970 Chief it didn't have one so the WA DOL computer generated one for me to go along with the hull ID numbers. I would think other States should be the same way, you can't just think one up yourself I don't suppose?
