I have a 1971 Evinrude 50 hp outboard motor. The carburetors look like they are off of a 1979 model with 3 fixed jets with no adjustment. I have been through the carbs and they are clean and freshly rebuilt. Cleaned jets, blew compressed air through passage ways, checked floats, tested floats with air, carbs are timed, checked timing and ignition, QL77JC4 spark plugs installed. The motor starts hard and once it is running if you try to let it idle down it will load up and flood out. Any ideas on what would be causing this would be apprecieated.

Hows the compression, will the spark jump a 7/16" air gap? You can use a timing light to check and see if you are loosing or have interminitent spark on the cylinders. Have you checked the pulse line for the fuel pump for fuel in the line, might have a defective fuel pump leaking fuel into the cylinder and loading it up.
