This is probably my 4th motor project, but this one has me scratching my head. I am working on a 1971 Evinrude 6 HP for someone. Spark on both cylinders good. Compression good on both cylinders. Carb cleaned. Fuel lines all replaces. Its getting gas, air and spark, but no fire. What am I missing here. There isnt a lot on these old motors that can go wrong so Im a little stuck and asking for advice.

It has new coils or needs a set.-----Does spark jump an actual gap of 1/4" or more on a test set up , yes or no ??

I will need to test that. All I have really tested is the light tester verifying I am getting spark to the spark plug.

Proper testing will get you results.-----With what you say it should start right up and run without missing a beat.---But it is not so something is wrong.-----Weak spark is the major cause of " no start " conditions.----I have been fishing with a 1963 model 10 hp with same ignition as yours.-----Starts first or second pull, runs like new , trolls all day with out missing a beat.
