1971 Evinrude Carb. Kit Problems (Success)

I have decided that my old 1971 evinrude needs the carb rebuilt. It seems to run fine at high rps but coughs and jerks a lot when you try slow speeds. I was going to order a sierra kit hear from iboats but they show the part number for the 25hp no longer made. The part number is 18-7222, I would perfer the kit that includes the new float and needle and seat. Only want to do this once and would like to get it right the first time. I never have rebuilt a 2 stroke carb but have done several old 4bbl hollies and quadrajunks many years ago.<br />Anyone have any suggestions on where to find the kit and which one is best? Oem would be good to maybe better.<br />Thanks in advance for the help.<br />Ray

It's still avalable thru sierra and probably NAPA

The OEM kit is 396701...'bout $16.32. Includes float, needle and seat, etc. Get them from any John/Rude dealer.

OBJ, thanks for the response and the OEM part nunber, most of the dealers around hear don't want to take the time on these older outboards to look anything up. There is one in KCK that has helped in the past, I'll call them on Monday. <br />If that dosen't work I'll try NAPA as Laddies suggested.<br />Thanks again for the help, I'll let you know how she runs and idles when I'am done.<br />Ray

Laddies, OBJ, <br />Got the new factory carb. kit in this weekend, Motor runs and idles just fine now. A much simpler task then I had first thought. <br />Thanks Again for the advice.<br />Ray
