I have recently aquired a 1971 Evinrude 60hp Triumph. A lot of my friends have been telling me just to get a newer motor instead of cleaning out this one...My question is, is this particular motor good in terms of its year and model, and is it worth keeping as long as i can keep it in fair shape.(currently i need to do some carb work, and minor tuning and cleaning)

Re: 1971 Evinrude

That was a very good engine when new, Pony.

Do a compression check first. If that indicates that the engine is healthy it is worth fixing and will serve you well.

Those OMC three cylinder loopers were engineering and technology at least 20 years ahead of their time, so you have fairly new technology to work with.

Good luck, and welcome to iboats. :)
