Isn't there a way to insert some kind of a liner or something?......or to build up the inside with metal and re-machine it?
Seems like such a waste to parts out an engine like that.

Yes, but it's very pricey, not worth it on an 45 yr old 2 Stroke. It's half gone already, hoping to get the parts to people in a similar situation that can benefit instead of turning it into a toaster.............

^ I can relate. Just spent $1400 rebuilding mine. I knew the rest of the kit was in good (very low hours) shape and I paid $1 for the boat, so it was worth it to me. If I'd paid a shop to do the work it would have been out of the question.
