Hi Everyone.

I'm looking to buy a fixer-upper outboard and found a 1971 Johnson Super Sea Horse 40 HP.

The problem is that it starts and runs and idles, but once you turn it off it has trouble starting until it cools down a little.

Normally, I would say the problem is the carb. But that doesn't seem right. Has anyone experienced similar issues or know what might it be?

Thank you all.

It depends, does it loose spark? If spark is still there I would think it might have a carb overflowing and has to set before the gas evaporates. Might need a carb overhaul.
