Welcome to iboats.

That motor should twist up to 5500 rpms officially, but can handle 6000 if it's healthy. A motor that old I wouldn't bet on that. Speed? Might sneak into the lower 40s, but upper 30s should be easy.

Thanks, now one more question... The pitch on the current prop is 15, it is chipped up pretty good. Is a 15 good or can I do better when I change it out?

As willy said, you want atleast 5500RPM....if your 15P allows that RPM, then that is the correct prop.
What is your WOT RPM now?

Good deal... keep us posted on your progress.
If you don't have a tach, get one....it's the most important instrument you can have. If you have a marina or dealer close by, see if they will let you test a couple of props (most will let you)then buy the proper one for the 5500 mark.
If any fine-tuning is needed after that, willy is like dirt in a corner....it's always here :D
He can assist with lots a problems, and has "Black Max" on his mailbox.... :)
