1972 18hp Evinrude lower unit removal. ??

Hello, How would I go about removing the lower unit of my 18hp Evinrude model #18202R, and is it necessary? If it's not too big a deal I'd like to take it apart do an inspection and replace any worn or broken parts, seals, gaskets etc, as part of my overall restoration. Last time I changed gear oil noticed some water. But I have no idea how to remove it or what to look for. Any tips or suggestions would be great!
