I ran this motor on a strip pit last Friday, if it was smoking I didn't notice it. Put it in a barrel today to work on the lean setting, smoking really bad now. It did start at a fast idle. Have any ideas? Motor needs a steering bracket, not wanting to put good money after bad.

It is SUPPOSED to smoke. If it weren't smoking, you would have trouble in a big way. It will smoke a heck of a lot worse in a barrel. It was designed to run on a boat.

If the smoke bothers you, use 100% Synthetic TCW-3 outboard oil. It'll still smoke some, but not as bad.

All is fine. 2 stokes burn oil by their nature. On the water you don't really see the smoke but in an enclosed area you really see it. Usually nothing to worry about.
