OK I have a '72 18hp. Model #18202RC.
After reading many threads on this motor I realized that the top seal (under stator plate) was defiantly leaking.
I did manage to remove it without splitting the crank case. I have removed the motor from the exhaust housing and giving everything a good cleaning.
Now it would make sense to replace the bottom seal while everything is apart. Right? the problem is the little info I have found tells me that its not a standard seal. It is a carbon seal. On the BRP parts site it shows how it goes together.
should I be replacing the 2 o rings also? Or can you even get to them? I don't even know if its leaking. If its not a hard job I will just replace it.
Just looking for some advise from someone who knows this type of seal.
Thanks
