Hi everyone, I have a 1972 65 hp johnson, it has a hydro-electric shift. I do not have neutral or reverse , only forward. In the control box ,I can not find a shift diode . I think there should be one. What does it look like...Thanks Ken
OK, sorry but I gotta ask. Is the motor running when you are trying to shift it? It MUST be running in order to shift out of neutral. Otherwise, it defaults to forward gear.
No shift diode on that motor. Doesn't need one. That is for the old style ignition system.
