Hello again,
More help please. I checked the lower oil and it looks like I have water getting into it. Not sure how to proceed or what parts I will need and I would also like to change the water pump but can’t find one for my model motor.
Thoughts?

Drain the l.u., and pull it off. If that's an electric shift model, you need to separate the wires on the right side of the shaft. Disconnect at the knife connectors.

Pressure test and look for leaks. With vent plug in place, introduce 8 or 10 lbs. of air using an air pump (rubber gasket material and the soccer ball needle work fine. Use a spray bottle with some water and dishwater soap, and spray to locate leaks like you would when working on your daughter's bike tire. If leak is located (and it may be the drain or vent plugs -- for which you would replace plastic washers), find the appropriate repair parts and move ahead. When finished with the reseal, pressure test again for leaks.

There should be no problem finding those parts for a 1972 model 65 HP.----Your location and where are you looking for the parts ?

I’ve checked eBay, Amazon and general search. But I didn’t see anything for a 72. I’m located just outside of Cleveland OH. I’m new to all of this so trying to figure it out.

Time to visit a boat shop with hands on experience.----They will have the parts on hand or get them in a hurry.----I do not believe Amazon has any outboard experience on the payroll.
