1972 9.5 evinrude missing at low speed

I have a 1972 9.5 evinrude that hadnt been ran in 10 years. We finally got it to run and it ran great for about a month but now it suddenly started to miss at low speeds and cut off. It misses everynow and then when running at full speed too. It wont idle unless we keep it reved up. Does anyone know how to fix this?<br /><br />Josh

what have u done to the engine? sounds like a carb problem but u might want to check the plugs and points.

It started messing up as soon as we touched the fuel air mixture and we tried to put it back but its like the motor isnt responding at all to the adjustment.<br /><br />Josh

sounds like you need a carb kit also do you have a fuel filter in line ?

Wayne34609, thanks for your help. I checked the fuel pump and everything seemed fine but when I primed it gas leaked from the hose connecting to the carb. I put a new hose clamp on it and it straightened out a little and it then began to respond to me changing the fuel/air mixture unlike before. It runs as good as it used to.<br /><br />Josh
