Volvo Penta 270 reverse lock assembly......the 2 bolts that go over the pins seem to be a weak point. I made a couple inserts to fit inside the hollow bolts, and over the pins. Quite a bit sturdier. Made from stainless steel. Here's the test fit before I clean everything up:

And here it is for under $6.00 USD.

Found several places to purchase them, so it's not out of production which is good!

Thanks alot for this, I really appreciate it, and I think my friend does too. The days are getting shorter now, so it's gonna be nice to get some light on his boat again.

Glad to be of some help! I wonder if the spotlight assembly is still available.....I'd like to get a matching one for the port side.

Re: 1972 Chris Craft Lancer 19

Haven't got too much done the past 6 weeks, except for getting the Volvo 270 remounted and the transom shield reinstalled. I did pull the cast iron intake manifold, didn't like the looks of the rust inside......replaced with an Edelbrock Performer manifold and a new Holley 4160 square bore carburetor. The good news is that with the manifold and valve covers off, I can see the prior owner and his receipts were accurate. This is a new engine, spotless inside, no carbon anywhere.....appears to have less than even 10 hours on it. He spent $6000 on the engine, including the installation.......it is in fact a new engine. The boat sat for maybe 6 or 7 years after he spent this money. The scrapes on the bottom of the hull have been repaired, and I applied an epoxy paint rated for 'below the waterline'.......we'll see how this works out. Local company, and they sell to the military. Installed an 1-1/4 scoop in the hull for the raw water, as well as a crankshaft driven pump. I'll wait till I finish the exterior of the hull before I tear up the deck for replacement. (Yes, that was 'new' as well, 6 or 7 years ago. Wasn't sealed, and has dry rot. Too bad....)

Will post some pics this weekend. By the way, the hull thickness when installing the scoop strainer came out to about a half inch thick. No wonder the boat is so heavy! What is left?
1. finish exterior hull, and topside. A few cracks in the topside. Will try to gel coat, may end up painting topside. Haven't decided yet....
2. Decking and carpet. Will run some coolant lines up front while the deck is off, for a heater up front. (The wife wants it....) May ditch the huge fuel tank up front, and get a below-the-deck one. That will free up a lot of space up front. I'll be rewiring the entire electrical system while I'm at it.
3. Seats & vinyl trim.
4. Trailer maintenance......brakes need some work. Then it's off to the launch!

Any updates?

This boat looks beautuful! The sound of a healthy v8 in a boat is like no other.

I tried to post in the thread about your 60 mph Reinell tri-hull you restored to. That is also a beautiful boat and the time and effort you put in it really shows. I love the fact you blew by a much newer, lighter weight, and much more expensive bass boat! A success story for FORCE outboards to.

This thread is over 90 days old, actually 1 year, please let it die as it is considered a dead thread. The OP hasn't been active since June so don't hold your breath for an update...... :)
