I'll have to find my old thread when I started the restoration......I had to take a break for a while due to shoulder surgery....anyway, the boat went for a sea trial last Thursday at Detroit Lake, Oregon. I was totally taken by surprise by just giving it 1/4 throttle it literally comes out of the water and up on a plane. 1992 Chevy 5.7, Volvo outdrive, 23 pitch prop, 58 mph on flat water. Until I get everything updated on the old thread, here's a video and a couple pics.

(You'll have to click on the link for the video for some reason. Maybe right click and open in new tab. I'll try to move the video to YouTube or somewhere more compatible.

I haven't really touched the topside, other than some rubbing compound to clean it up a bit. Boating season is here, so the topside will have to wait till winter. The above 'sea trials' were last Thursday/ Took the boat out today, same lake, very warm day but the wind was blowing with gusts to 45 mph. Waves were hitting 4 to 5 feet high, and everyone was running for the ramp! I took advantage of the conditions to test out the hull in rough water at about 75% cruise speed. (45 mph) The legendary Jim Wynne designed hull in these Lancers is just as incredible as I have heard. Fairly smooth ride in rough water. Airborne a few times, with a nice smooth landing as it came down. Sheriff at the ramp came over when I hauled it out, said he was watching.....and figured I was testing it out, as nobody in their right mind would be out there for fun! The two deputies were amazed at how stable it looked at speed in the waves and wanted to check it out. They have an aluminum jet boat, about $70,000 worth......and told me it's one rough ride in these conditions. After the customary inspection for life jackets, etc, etc, he was looking down in the ski locker I converted to my fuel tank area, with electric fuel pump, as well as my raw water intake, a shut off valve, a water filter. Yes, I have a blower for ventilation for not only the engine area, but this separate area as well. (Separated by a bulkhead.) 2 bilge pumps. And if flooding gets real bad, I can turn a valve and divert the raw water suction from the scoop under the hull......to the inside. Although it's a Lancer 19, it measures out as 20'6", not including the outdrive......so no flotation foam. (Didn't have any from the factory, either.) Passed inspection 100% with a sticker issued. The most thorough inspection I've ever had. (He asked if he can climb in and check out my work..... really nice guys.) All wiring connectors soldered, heat shrinked.....stainless fasteners everywhere, new seats, carpet, deck, all vinyl.....brightware is all original Chris Craft!

This winter, topside work and a new set of gauges and steering wheel.

No, I don't think they ever did. It's a Jim Wynn design, made for open ocean in mind...and open bows aren't conducive to open ocean safety. (I.e: Waves coming over the bow?) I see no reason one couldn't be made into an open bow, though. It would be an easy conversion. Just stay away from any water with 8'+ swells :)

Cool, you found the original thread! I sort of got interrupted with shoulder reconstruction......got a lot done with one arm over the winter.
Just had a flooding issue with the new carburetor......I discovered when they tapped the threads for the inlet line, they must have left a piece barely hanging on. I found wedged at the top of my needle and seat, a complete circle from the threads.

Thank you.....and I have more to do! The new fuel tank went under the deck, opening up the area under the bow as a small cuddy. Fully carpeted in there, the 6 year calls it her area.....she wants me to install 2 oval windows :) We'll see......

Nice boat. Ive got a 75 that I just restored. I also thought of relocating the tank to the under floor area. What did you do as far as relocating the filler and routing the hose? I'll be making this conversion on my next restoration.
