1972 evinrude 50hp

i am thinking about buying an evinrude 50hp, 1972, with electric shift controls, is there anything i should be looking for? known problems with these? i donr believe i will hear it run, i am hoping for a decent runner to put on my 14footer untill i decide what to do with my ploblematic 650merc. luv to hear the goods n bads on the `rude.

The parts for the electric shift are getting scarce and expensive. Make sure the lower unit does not have any water in it and make sure you test run it for proper shifting.
Personally I like the electric shift lower units, but they can be costly to repair.

thnx....after this 650 merc n its issues i am gunshy...hopefully i will be able to take my marine mech buddy with me to look.
