Nathan,<br /><br />More than likely your starter Bendix is sticky. Spray the shaft of the starter bendix with WD-40 while rocking (back and forth) the flywheel manually-gently.<br /><br />Make sure the battery is disconnected.<br /><br />Now, run the bendix up and down the shaft by turning it clockwise and counterclockwise. While doing that, keep spraying the shaft with WD-40. <br /><br />Note: The starter ring gear turns the opposite way of engine rotation to engage.
