I am getting some rattling from the engine compartment. Investigation seems to indicate that the bell housing on the back of the motor is hitting the mounting bracket on the transom at idle. Putting a screw driver between them while the motor is running elminates the rattle / banging noise. Also just grabbing the top of the valve cover and pushing the motor while running eliminates the sound. My guess is the rubber issolators are worn out in the mount and I am getting excess movement. Are they pressed in or is there a retaining nut that holds them in place. I noticed that they are available but before I did the motor out of its hole mid season i kind of want to know what I am getting into.
