Some old mercs have the tach wire going to the ignition system, and other have it to one side of the Alternator
12 pole Alternator. some Tachs, for some reason use position '5' for 12 pole Alt.
If attached to the ignition, it would be 6 pulses, again, some tachs would say position 5.
