MY 1972 or 1973 Evinrude Big Twin 40 HP runs fine except at full speed. At full speed it runs ok for several hundred yards and then acts like the fuel is shut off. When you pull back on the throttle, it stays running at lower RPM. Fuel line and squeez bulb were changed and it made no difference. Is it probable that the fuel pump could be causing this issue. If not, do you have any other ideas. Thanks, Jim

fuel pump is likely - make sure the tank is free from debris and the vent is open. if squeezing the bulb while its faltering causes it to pick back up, that's an indication of weak fuel pump.

have you recently completely any maintenance to the motor?

Thanks for your info, I ordered a new fuel pump kit, lets hope that solves the problem. Jim
