I bought the boat with the motor not running. The mag was bad so I replaced it. Now I am having issues with my motor running for a little bit then it dies, it starts fine but will only continue to run if I pump the primer bulb. It's an external fuel tank so I figured it's a problem with the fuel pump. I took apart the carb and it was clean but the pump element was ripped. I ordered a new one and installed it at a 45 degree angle like it says on one of your other threads (when looking at the back of the carb, where the element goes in, from bottom left to top right). I thought this was the way the old one came out, but not sure and the manual doesn't say. I tried it a couple different ways, but it still will not keep running. The carb bowl is not empty after it dies, but you have to use the primer bulb to pump more fuel into the bowl for it to start again. So I adjusted the float to where it closes just before the top. Same problem it runs for a little while, then runs out of gas and dies, unless I pump the bulb. The carb is clean and the inlet needle is not stuck. the little reed valves on the side of the carb seem to be working correctly and aren't torn. The vent on the gas tank is open and the fuel lines look good (no pin holes). I don't know what else to check. I NEED HELP!!! lol thanks in advance. Chad
