Hey guys!!
Well after years and years of wanting one I've finally bought my first boat, cleaned the boat up a bit but the motor still needs some work.
It's a 1972 100hp Hydro-electric shift Evinrude that is currently missing a starter motor, tried hand starting it with no luck (grounded the spark plug on the head/tried leaving a slight gap and found no spark).
Well anyway after been constantly interupted while trying to start it I accidentally mixed the battery terminals up and put the positive on the neg and vice versa. This ended up with a decent amount of smoke coming from the power pack (towards the back left I think). What have I done here?? Melted a wire/blown a fuse?? Can I repair it or will I need a new power pack?
Any help will be greatly appreciated I'm itching to get out on the water!!! Cheers.
