I have a 72 Glastron Carlson with a 4 cylinder vovlo motor in it. This is the first time I have started it since I got it and there is white foam coming out of the valve cover. I had the water pump hose hooked up to a garden hose. I would assume this is a cracked block? It did seem to run OK until the foam appeared. Are repair parts available for this motor, (such as a replacement block used or new?)
I have had it for over a year and when I got it, by the the looks of it that it had been winterized, Spark plugs were out, water , oil drained drained.
I am thinking that the guy I bought it from probably knew that it was in bad repair. I only paid 900.00 for it and though it was a great deal, but now maybe not.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Ok, I have a manual, will it show how to do this procedure? Is it easy to explain or do. I would be really, really happy if this block wasn't cracked.

How much oil did you put in to refill? Where is the oil on the dipstick?

The oil level was fine before I started it and it was at the full mark on the stick. Now it is all the way up the stick, out the crankcase ventilation hose and out the valve cover with white foamy oil.

Thanks for the sticky tip. Pretty much looks like bad news for me though. I'll drain the block and see if I can get it to hold some pressure.

Test the oil cooler separately - you might get lucky!

UpDate: I drained the oild and left the oil plug out. I hooked the water to it with out it running (of coarse) and the water is going out by the impeller and also there is water coming out of the oil drain hole.
The manual is kind of sketchy on the oil cooler. I'm working on it but thought I'd check to see if I am wasting my time.
I'm sure it is not a good sign to see water coming out the oil drain plug, I'm just thinking, if it was a crack in the block, would it really find its way into the crankcase by gravity?

OK, I took the oil cooler off and there is water in there through out. I'll replace the o-rings and give that a test. I'm thinking maybe too much water pressure from the hose and blowing by the cooler into the oil filter? Anyway the o-rings looked pretty squished.
