1973 115 evinrude i have a problem...im getting shocked when i turn the key off. when i pull up to a dock and i go to turn the key off, thats when im getting shocked. All ground wires seem to be good, and the harness. Went through the controls and the wires seem to be good. any ides what it could be thanks

If it's the key shockin ya, the ignition has to be gettin a hot from somewhere. Look behind the ignition for worn insulation on a hot wire. Also you could make a lil jumper & touch the key to ground before you touch it with your hand. If ya get a spark, then look for a hot wire touchin somewhere, but that spark can't happen if it's well grounded. It should blow a fuse, or drain the battery, instead of shockin ya. Is there water in the boat? Are the control wires gettin wet?

Do you have an emergency kill switch close to the ignition switch that could have gotten wet or damp? Thats a ground wire and if it gets damp will knock the fire out of you; trust me I know.:eek:
