The steering on my boat is real hard. The problem is in the cable system somewhere b/c without the cable attatched to the outdrive moves freely. Is there a way to lube it or do I have to replace the cable or other components.
Thanks
Greg

hi sapian32.
i assume you have a aristocraft nineteen?
i don't know the answer to your question. short of, yes it must be in the cable as you say, or the helm (rack and pinion i assume). one of the fellows here did a cable on his nineteen. read through a few of the aristocraft posts and ya should be able to find it. my guess is it's not real fun to route the cable through the back conduit into the engine bay.... i have no experience at the repair you need.

you might try posting this on the boat forum. many more good minds reading over there that could possibly offer insight.....

so what color nineteen do you have? got any pics?

Thanks for the reply. It is white with a tan/brown interior, I saved it from a trailer park that was closing down. Ive taken it out on the intercoastal a couple of times but its like driving a big cadillac w/o power steering. I'll try to get gome pics up but it needs some TLC.
