changing the water pump on a johnson, 1973 i think. where to disconnect the shifter? 50hp thanks for help.

guessing here...look underneath the bottom carb for the shift rod/lever connection.

Go to boats.net for drawings. Looks like there is the usual threaded pin to be removed below the lower carb.
