Alright, I got everything to strap this puppy down to the trailer and not let the motor break the stern bracket again. The new bracket comes in tomorrow, and my dad and I are putting it on. Can't wait to bring this boat back to life. Thanks for all the info and moral support Gun Dog.

Got the new stern bracket installed this week and took the family to the lake this weekend. The boys had a blast tubing and just riding around on the boat. They even got to drive for a little bit. They got a kick out of that. Thanks again for all the help. Love this forum.

Sounds like the carb rebuild went well also.

Yep. It's amazing how well a motor can run without the high speed jets completely gummed up from sitting with fuel in them for 7 years. I am now paranoid about the water pump not pumping enough water. I replaced the impeller when I started this motor recovery, but I'm thinking that it's not getting the water all the way up the water tube. I was able to verify that the tube was clear by removing the t-stat cover and holding a water hose to the tube. I got water sprayed all over me from above when it shot out from the relief valves. The basis of my paranoia is that I don't see water coming from the exhaust relief ports just above the water line while the engine is at operating temperature. Every so often, while under way I see water spurting from it, so I'm thinking I may have a stuck t-stat or at the very least a lazy one. I have a kit on order. Also, the seal in the pump housing is most likely the original, so I ordered the pump repair kit so I could replace all the seals and the grommet (should have done that originally). I may be losing pressure around the drive shaft, because when it's on the muffs, I can see water leaking out of the exhaust housing right around the pump. Parts should be in mid-week, so I'll update then.
