I have a 1973 85hp that I'm slowly taking care of different things that have been neglected or rigged by the previous owner. My motor cover seal is hard and missing parts of it as I'm sure most this old will be. I'm having no luck finding a replacement. The OEM part # appears to be 0315168 per the Johnson site but it is listed as not available. Searching other aftermarket sites for a replacement is a dead end also. What does anyone else do or use? Is it not important enough to bother with? It appears to be stapled on. Just weatherstrip adhesive on any replacement I can find? This motor runs pretty good and idles good too. I'm enjoying bringing the 'ol girl up to snuff and really appreciate all of the info I've learned reading these forums. What a great asset to boaters! Thanks for any help or direction given!
