I just finished moving the Merc engine to my boat. I have the trim motor mounted under the splashwell. I am going to connect the hydraulic lines but I am wondering if it matters which hoses go where. I can't see why there would be a difference as both cylinders are going in the same direction all the time. Also, of course, when I did the swap, it puked oil all over both boats, me and my shop floor. What type of oil is supposed to go in these systems?

Thanks!

No just hook them up to the proper size fitting amd the system uses Dextron 2 or 3

Yammer, That system originally used 5W-30 motor oil. The newer PTT systems use Dextron III ATF. You can likely use either fluid, although if your seals are marginal the 5W-30 oil will leak less.
Those PTT systems are not self bleeding. You need to use gravity and the 2 bleed screws on each cylinder to get the air out.
