Hello I've got a a problem with my evinrude it'll crank fast for like 10 seconds then die down to a very super slow barely turning the flywheel like it don't have enough juice when the battery came off of a battery charger showing 100% charge. I just cleaned my carbs and put on a new fuel pump. What could be causing this?

I had a similar problem recently and I found my battery terminal cables were all corroded, even as far up as several feet into the cable. I would pull back the insulation and see if your cables are corroded. Also, make sure the terminals themselves aren't corroded.

This was the cause of my weak cranking condition on an otherwise fully charged battery.

Okay thank you. How does the starter ground itself I guess from the bracket mounting to the motor? If rust was there could that cause it to maybe?

I have said it many times !-----Take the starter apart for inspection and an ohm test from shaft to commutator.-----Very easy to do .----I install new brushes at $4.50 a set all the time too.-------These starters are easy to inspect / repair so do not rush out and buy a new one untill old one is confirmed bad !

Well my battery wire was corroded all the way and the problem still persisted and took my starter to a shop I need new brushes, armature polished and it had water damage for 3in. Don't know how that happened cause it's always been under my cow and never sat in no water.... So when I get it back should be as good as new. BTW if anyone ever has the cog hanged up on the flywheel spray white lithium grease on the spiral under the cog it'll move freely don't use wd-40 or any other lubricant is what the starter shop told me.
