1973 Evinrude 25 hp fuel pump

Can I use a newer style fuel pump on this motor. This style is getting a bit hard to find and descriptions on eBay are sometimes vague. I can fabricate a bracket if the newer style will work.

About the only thing that can go wrong is a $5.00 diaphragm.-----Easy to fix those fuel pumps.------They are simple and ultra reliable.------Many good fuel pumps are thrown out ( in desperation ) I believe.----Lots of pumps can be found that mount directly over the pulse port.----No need to fabricate any brackets.

Well, I was trying to change orientation of the lines to accommodate a starter solenoid . In the process I lost the little ball that goes on the spring therefore I am looking for a new pump. Tiny pieces give me a fit because I am 64 am was blessed with MS 16 years ago. I can get a rebuild kit but if I lose that piece again I am in the same situation.
