1973 evinrude starflite 135

I just changed the water pump on this motor... it never did show any signs of pumping water before but never did get hot could always put my hand on the cylinder for a few seconds with out getting burned.. was wanting to know where does the water come out most of it anyway does it come out the prop i have threw hub exhaust or above the calvation plater there is warm water coming out the long small holes is this where the hot water comes out after it goes into the heads thanks for any suggestions the holes i referred to by the calvation plate i think are actually to the back of the motor a whole bunch of litte circle holes

Most of the water goes out underwater via all the holes you mentioned, plus the prop hub. The above-water tell-tail is the two finger size holes on the backside of the midsection. Just a spray of water out of those, which varies in amount according to whether or not the thermostat is open.
