Stupid question for my 1973 115 Johnson model 115 ES L73 what is the type of gear lube that goes in the lower unit the manual says OMC gear lube gearcase lubricant or type C will standard West Marine high viscosity lower unit oil 8090 weight suffice? It is a powershift two motor.

It is not electric shift so no need for Type -C oil.---------Hy-vis or the West Marine high viscosity is the stuff to use.

Excellent, that is what I used. I will make a few runs and change again. Oil was low and a little milky... Doh! I ran it this weekend and will change again this week. The magnet had a couple metal flakes on it but nothing substantial. I will report back this week when I change it again. Where can I find the drain/fill plug gaskets that are'nt over priced ridiculously? I would rather buy 100 for $30 than 2 for $3.99 ea + shipping😛
