1973 Johnson 50 HP Weight?

Can anyone tell me what the weight of these engines are? Thank You.

Book says 188 /193 lbs

Thank You so much. I could not find that information from Google. And for a 50 HP that seems light. Who says New stuff is an improvement?

Newer motors are often heavier , a difficult concept for many folks to understand that.----Those values are straight from the factory sales brochure !

Again Thank You for the needed Information. I think the Old Motors were heavy where they should be and light where strength was not needed. I have found on newer engines that some components such as blocks and other parts like that are of a lighter construction of years past but they try and get by with more bolts to hold things together. With the addition of computers and probably more restrictive exhaust systems and other related components to meet the so called Emission standards is the main reason for the increase in weight. Not to mention the advent of 4 Stroke Power Plants to try and meet the Emission standards easier.

If it was easy to make 2 Strokes meet Emission Standards we would have 2 Stroke Motorcycles like the rest of the world tearing up the streets. Like the Gama.

Sorry for the Rant. But could you tell me what the Factory Prop size is for the 1973 Johnson 50HP?

I would ask the Prop Section but they require lots of information that I do not have. As I still need to build the Boat of which will be a Spira International New Design of a 17.5' Panga. And since I am not going to race it or expect every last MPH I would just like to use a good all around Prop.
