Thanks for all the help. My trim and tilt motor stop working, I tested the ground and both blue and green wires to battery and nothing so I am having the motor rebuilt. How do I refill it with the 20w oil it needs. The unit is mounted in the boat. Should I bleed after I add oil? What it the procedure for reinstalling this unit.

motor model# 3651773

Thanks

Wow that's a quick diagnosis.Nothing else to check??Anyway find fill hole, should have diagram in manual.Motor usually needs to be trimmed up.Slowly release cap then fill, then trim up and down a few time to bleed. Then check level again, fill if needed.I did this 3 times on mine.Of course tilting up and down will be difficult if motor is as you say....blown.

Use SAE 5W-30 motor oil in the PTT resevoir, or ATF, whatever is already in there. There is a stainless steel round head slotted screw on the right top of the resevoir. Fill from there. The pump is self-bleeding, but the trim cylinders are not. If the cylinders need to be bled, I can provide procedure.

How will I know if the trim cylinders need to be bled? And whats the procedure? The rebuild shop will have the motor done in the AM. I will be reinstalling in the AM.

Thanks

I love the water!

Aussie, Those trim cylinders are not self bleeding. This PTT is the one with the pump and resevoir in the boat and the trim cylinders mounted on the OB.

Rhayes, After you get the PTT pump resevoir, cycle the motor up and down a few times. Now set the motor 1/3 way up and give the leg a pull and a push. If it moves, there is air in the PTT cylinders.
