I'm considering purchasing a 1973 9.5 hp Evinrude Sportwin. I've heard that some of the older Evinrudes used a "pressure tank". Is this the case with a '73 Sportwin? Or will a conventional tank work?

I've heard there were problems with the pressure tank, but nothing specific. What kinds of problems (if any) do these tanks have?

THANKS

No worries. Your outboard uses a regular tank and standard Johnson/Evinrude connectors.

As CA. said, you don't need a pressure tank, but to answer your question - most problems I've had with pressurized fuel system was the tendency to leak and spray fuel when hoses get old and rotten.
