Howdy, I just posted in the electrical forums, figured I would throw a few pictures up here as well. My buddy got this for $300 dolllars with a 25 horse Johnson on it. We ripped up the floors, pulled the transom, all the steering and wiring. We used 5/8 plywood, used the fiber glass epoxy, put foam in, and rivited the floors back in. Did the same with the transom, used two peices of plywood to make it the proper thickness, epoxyed both of them, glued them together, painted, and got it in. Found a 1988 Mercury Classic 50 for 900 bucks, mounted the motor, put teleflex steering in. We didnt have the money to pay for the angle mounting kit for the steering wheel, sow we put it in straight. Had to cut off some of the dash, but we restructed the rest of it to make a cool shelf. Right now we are at the re-wiring stage, putting the side panels on, and putting the connections back into the motor.

Were going to work on it throughout the winter, get a paint job, look for a new windshield, another layer to the floor (were both heavy guys so the 5/8 ply is a little weak in certain spots), seats and a few other things. Right now we just want to get it in the water.

Enjoy!

Looks like a good start!

You say you riveted the decking down? What size and type or rivets?

3/8 aluminum rivets. We needed longer ones but would have had to special order them, out of home depot, lowes, fastenal and a few local hardware stores, nobody had the right rivets. We drilled pilot holes about 1/4 of the way through the decking, and put the rivets in that way.

Ok, that's why I can't see the heads sticking up in the pics.

Did you use the 1/8" diameter rivets or the 3/16"?... did it make for a sturdy installation?

1/8 I believe. Its sturdy, just not enough support between the sides and the cross member.
