Thanks. I know the Nova needs a long shaft I was just wondering about the motor. I guess since it is a 60 hp with power trim that it would be a long shaft. I haven't seen the motor myself so I guess I will see when I get there.
OK. Got the big 60 on the little Nova! As soon as I can figure out the wiring I will be in business. It came with all the controls except battery cables? Not sure whats up with that.
The battery cables should be easy to figure out and don't really tie into the main harness at all as I recall. You shouldn't need "genuine evinrude cables" either. Just the needed length of heavy gauge wire with crimped circle connectors on each end.
Just picked up the battery cables. The control wiring has a harness so I will just have to plug that in. However their are like 3 or 4 wires that each have connectors on the ends. The wires are all different colors and may not do anything I need anyway? Not sure. the motor has power trim and is oil injected so they may be trim or alarm wires? I plan to plug the harness together and see what doesn't work?
not sure that's a good plan. find or invest in a shop manual and find out what they do before you apply power to the system and for sure before you fire it up.
I know the video is rough but you all get the idea. She is on the water and running strong! The restoration begins this winter and I cant wait. Thanks for all the advice!
