HI guys,

Sorry for the delay once again. It has taken some time to get all the parts together. Now, I have been busy. I was over wasting my time and went over everything. I have completely pulled this thing down. Removed powerhead, lower unit, water pump. All covers off exhaust and water side cover. Pulled head and re surfaced. Inspected and cleaned all water passages. I have found nothing too obvious. This was a salt water motor but it was pretty clean inside. I have replaced all gaskets, water pump impellor and re torqued head. All back together now. What I have found was the bypass totally blocked and that was about it. I tried testing the lower unit in a water drum with a drill before and after the impellor swap. Basically the same amount of water was output. Water pump is ok.and probably was before.

I ran this initially with the stat out and water cover off. Plenty of water pumping out the stat hole. Should any pass through the bypass hole? It didnt seem to although its cleaned up and open now. Ran it again with the cover back on and no stat. Runs well and stays cool. Run it again with the stat back in. Getting hot now but not as bad as before. Using the IR heat gun I can see that it gets to 160-165 ish F around the top of the head and about 135-140ish at the bottom where the stat sits. It seemed to stabilize around those temps and didn't get any hotter. I'm hoping thats ok. I have noticed that there is no water coming out the relief holes at the back still. That still has me buggered. I went over all the water passages and replaced gaskets and grommets and cant work that out. I have the motor well submerged in my tank. Would be the same depth as on the boat in the water. Any further ideas on this?

cheers
