i am new to boating but as far as mechanics im pretty handy.
i was recently given a boat from my grandfather and it has a 60hp evinrude motor on it. the motor didn't run at all at first because the motor had been "winterized" and had sat out of the water for probably 20 years. so my dad had it taken to a mechanic and after that it ran. when we got around to taking it out we got the motor to run full throttle and top speed and it was going great. then it just bogged down. now it doesnt go full speed. the throttle will be all the way but no juice. i checked the compression on the cylinders and there all perfect. the spark plugs are new. the fuel mixture is correct. any thoughts or help anyone can give me would be really great. when i put muffs on it in the drive way it seems like its reving as high as it should while in the water. but theres no load on it so......
i also checked the lower unit oil and it was good. i even replaced it just to be sure.
When we took it to the shop they:
replaced the impeller
replaced all the plugs
cleaned the carbs
they did everything your suppose to take care of after a motor sits for so long.
my dad wants to think its the power pack on the motor. could that be it?
any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks
