Re: 1974 Chrysler 35 hp
My 35 HP Chrysler 1968-73 model possibly has not had its impeller replaced but checked about 1986 and looked and worked good or replaced then.
1. It works good now ?in my opinion?. What is the avg. hour life? What would dictate the average life?
2. I have averaged 5-8 hours of very light fishing use a year since 1985 (short trolling trips due to stumps).
3. What would cause the impeller to fail if the rubber is good? I replaced propeller shaft seal 7/09, oil leak and no water in oil.
4. Any specific winterizing the pump? Does it drain completely and automatically if the motor is down?
5. I have a service/repair manual on CD coming but I serviced from a paper back manual when I serviced better 80 & 90s?
6. Too Late but do you find the CD to be as good as the paper manuals? Sharing w/o scanning should work?
7. My pump?s concern and attachment was on page 5 with an attachment showing the stream.

Should a 35 HP Chrysler's water pump discharge be solid or a mixed?
On the 35 HP Chrysler 1971 or 73 model, Mod. # 3555, Ser. # 2365.
1. Should the water pump?s discharge be solid or a mixed out-put (in such a large dia)? Hopefully, you can observe the out-put approximately just above idle in the attachments.
2. Should the impeller be checked periodically if the out-put looks OK?
3. The cover is off a 55 HP vs this 35 HP. What year is the 35 HP model?
Please excuse me skipping around but I thought all was related info.
Thanks,
Joe
