I've got a 1974 Correct Craft Mustang 17 with a 302 V-8 and Holley 4bbl.
Is there a hook in the iBoats forum for Holley questions?
Thanks,
J

I'm ready.
1974 Correct Craft Mustang 17, 302 V-8 with Holley 4bbl.
What can I expect to pay for a carburetor rebuild from a reputable outfit?
Is it cheaper to replace or rebuild?
Thank you,

I have a 1974 Holley 4-bbl that should be rebuilt. I've never done a Holley before and am undecided if I should attempt it or bring it to a shop.. Any idea how much I could expect to pay for a shop to rebuild it?
It looks to me like I could get a rebuild kit and the manifold gasket for about $60.00 (?).
Thanks,
J

Holleys are pretty easy to rebuild. You can give the numbers to an auto parts place and have a kit for less than $50 complete. Most likely be in for a few hours to days of your time ( depending on how fast or how careful you are ). Rebuilds will cost $100+. It is 1 of the most expensive services that can be done. EFI killed the carburator shops and as such, remaining rebuilders can charge what they want..

You can have this place do your carb for $200 or buy another outright for $269 Fourl Barrel Holley Marine Carburetors. New marine Holleys are much more expensive

I replied to your other thread. You should get a kit for less than $50, probably the $30ish range truthfully and that much for for a good kit. Holleys are not a hard rebuild. Squirters and jets are all they use for metering, nothing complex like a Carter/ Edelbrock or a Quadrajet which use metering rods.. You don't need to buy a kit from a marine supplier. # from your carb and a trip to Napa will do. The carburetor body is marine specific, but I'm fairly certain that there are no marine specific internals to that carb.
