This engine starts hard. Like it isn't getting gas. After starting with a premix squirted in, once it warms up, it will start fine.Rebuilt carbs. Checked fuel filter, checked compression. changed plugs. checked linkage. Updated choke level - removed spring. It needs a shot of gas to start? The choke is closing completely, and it still needs a shot of gas to start.

It's most likely that your choke isn't closing properly. Take off the outer airbox cover and look closely at the choke plates when you engage the choke. Make sure they're closing all the way.

I updated the electric choke switch with the recommended revision: I removed the spring and replaced it with a level. It still needs a shot of gas to start? When I look at the inside butterfly valve, I tried to adjust that to close tight too. I removed the hose to the filter, and gas squirted out, so that has some pressure, as I pumped the bulb until it was firm. The choke is closing completely, and it still needs a shot of gas to start.
