1974 Evinrude 85 HP Water Tubes

When I dropped the lower unit there were no guide tubes. It looks like someone has possibly added a copper bushing and 3/4 inch to an inch more cobber tubing to what is already there. I guess my question is does this seem ok? It does not appear to me that the guide tubes would fit over the bushings anyway. Thoughts?

Somebody has redesigned it. There are no copper bushings in the original setup. Maybe they were replacing damaged ends on the tubes. Good luck with aligning them without the guides. Or maybe the bushings are his inventive solution to missing guides (are they slip fit?).

I got it all lined up I believe. If everything else would quit messing up I can give it a good test. Thanks
